It's not like improper eq is going to blow up your cans, at worst you'll get distortion. Hit the eq, A/B test it, and see if you like the results. Great thing about EQ is that you can experiment to find out what you like. You have a file and you can test against that setup vs no EQ. Try a more extreme EQ to see if the APO is actually working, cause there are many users that report the APO didn't work until they did some "fixing", mostly software/windows related, so it is different for everyone, for me I installed and it just work. Reinstalled/ Clean installed EqualizerAPO about 5 times - didn't work. Basically, I've tried everything. I'm just pisssed and annoyed at this garbage program and needed to vent. Then go to Services (Windows app) and restart 'Windows Audio'. Voila, EqAPO will start working again. You don't have to reboot, you can just restart the Windows Audio service. You can do this through the Services app, or there is even a button there in Peace.
Uninstall, and reinstall the app in a directory NOT in /Program Files (x86) or /Program Files. Recent versions of Win 10 have new permissions regarding protected directories, and cause EQ APO to fail. I use C:\Equalizer APO and it works just fine. chosias. I'm using the onboard audio on a B450 Aorus Elite motherboard. I've followed the instructions in the OP and copied across the text files to the config folder. I've opened the Equalizer APO Editor app and selected my speakers, and a channel configuration of 5.1 (also tried 5.1 surround). I only get stereo playback, from the front speakers.
