You are technically correct with the timing belt interval, although if i was you id change it long before 150k, say 100k.

Dear colleagues I have problem with C4 Picasso 1.6 e-hdi. Car can't start. Motor crank only 1 sec. On ECU I have only 1 fault U1218. When I check options in BSI parameter ECU locked changing YES NO YES NO. During crank diagbox disconnects with bsi. I haven't any fault in another modules but I can't connect with battery module.

Personal preference would be the 2.0 if its the 8v unit. The 1.6 is not unreliable its just a bit more likely to cause concerns. 8v 2.0 is either 90 or 110 horses. 1.6 is (usually) already 110 horses, that's quite a lot for a little unit really. I'm unsure on VED, I seem to remember that commercials attract a different rate to cars anyway.
The 1.6vti has certainly exceeded my expectations given all the bad press reviews. My previous car was a 2.0 litre peugeot 307cc and the 1.6vti is much quicker than that, that fact that the 2008 if nearly 600kgs lighter than the 307cc is probably a major factoralso.
